Bus Rapid Transit
The first of its kind in Tulsa, an effort to begin the modernization of the city’s public transportation is underway. A new look for our buses on Peoria and updated stations designed to operate more like rail stations – the 50 stops along the Peoria corridor will give a facelift to Tulsa’s transportation system. New vehicles, communications technology, real-time arrival screens, station-area lighting, pedestrian crossings, level loading, new sidewalks, traffic signal priority and fare collection technology are some of the details also included in the Bus Rapid Transit revamp.
Our architecture and multidiscipline engineering teams provided design services to HNTB, including an emphasis on Tulsa’s aerospace industry, hence the name “AERO.” As a strategy to address east to west transportation improvements, the City of Tulsa has also engaged our crew in the design of a 50 stop BRT that will follow along the Mother Road where it passes through Tulsa.
